Winning and Accepting an NH Theatre Award

Accepting Awards

The NH Theatre Awards has strict polices around the acceptance of awards.  Please read below if you are ever a finalist.

Accepting "Named" Awards

Any "named" awards can only be accepted by the winner.  Producers, mothers, friends, children, spouses and any others are not permitted to accept the awards.  In very special situations you can petition the NH Theatre Awards to make an exception but this is rarely granted.

Accepting "Best Production" Awards

We encourage the entire cast & crew to come to the stage if they win Best Production.  Typically the Producer or Director of the production will say a speech.

Production winners are allowed 30 seconds once on stage to accept their award.  Be aware the clock starts when you are coming up the stage stairs and not when you are at the podium.   The band will start playing when you hit 30 seconds and become progressively louder.  At the same time the microphone amplification will be turning down.

Preparing an Acceptance Speech

There are some points finalists should be aware of when preparing an acceptance speech.

Who Nominated Me?

The NH Theatre Awards did *not* nominate you. Your producing theatre company did.  We encourage you to thank them for casting you in your award winning role!

How much time do I have for my speech?

Winners are typically allowed 30 seconds once on stage to accept their award.  Be aware the clock starts when you are coming up the stage stairs and not when you are at the podium.   The band will start playing when you hit 30 seconds and become progressively louder.  At the same time the microphone amplification will be turning down.

Should I thank the NH Theatre Awards?

We would love it - but remember we didn't help you win - the adjudicators scores did that.  You may want to thank the adjudicators for seeing the greatness in you!

It may be more appropriate to thank the NH Theatre Awards for their hard work throughout the year to keep the Awards process working.
